Getting too big!

It has been an incredibly busy and FAST summer. We spent a great week in Myrtle with the family then returned home to begin our move. We have been in our new home for about 3 weeks now. The girls seem comfortable here and we are finally getting settled. I am thankful to have done this all before school starts.

The girls are both growing so fast. I tell them daily to please stop. Olive is turning one on Saturday. Um, where in the world did a year go!? She’s got a sweet, but feisty personality and the cutest cheeks in this world. And that giggle…all Lola has to do is make a funny face or say “Boo” to her and she breaks out into a full cackle, laughing.

Time to savor this last week and a half home with my girls before heading back to work.

Catching up

We have had a great couple of weeks, just very busy. Maybe it’s because the school year is winding down….13 more days to go! Days seem to be flying by. I cannot believe my sweet Olive is 9 months old now. She smiles almost the entire day and has the cutest giggle. Lola is helping trying to teach her to crawl right now. She FINALLY said “Momma” this past weekend. Definitely was not her first word, having said Dada, Lola, Papa, and Bye Bye all before Momma.

The weather has been really great allowing us to spend many days outdoors. We have been planting flowers, spending time at the pool, and cooking out alot. Hope yall have had a great spring and are also ready for summer :)

Olive and Lola

Olive Mae is 7 1/2 months old now. For weeks I have been meaning to get Olive’s picture in front of the growth chart….and finally got one. When I look at Lola’s picture at 6 months so many memories come racing back. It makes me want to immediately pull out the video camera and just tape everything.

There are days when I get to the babysitter to pick up the girls and walk in, take a glance at Olive playing, and have a huge flashback because she looks so much like Lola did. Girl’s got more hair than Lola did but those eyes and little chin are so precious and alike. Sweet things and such blessings.

It’s Friday-

Hallelujah! I’m so thankful Spring has “arrived.” I will say, today just so happens to be beautiful and sunny. However, there is more snow in the forecast. So lets enjoy this while we can. We don’t have any big plans for this weekend other than the usuals…but I am thankful for that and can’t wait to spend some quality time with our family. Hope yall have a great weekend. :)

Da-Da wins again!

Yesterday, after dinner, we took the girls outside to play. While Lola was running around Olive was sitting and playing with her toys on a blanket when all of the sudden….

She said her first word! :) So exciting and precious! Love that little voice!

Happy Tuesday!

Hope you all are having a good start to your week. I have been a bit slack on posting lately and am going to work to do better! Because our phones are what we always have with us my picture taking has resorting to always using my iPhone. If it was only as simple to carry around the large Canon camera in my back pocket….things would look alot prettier!

Last week we had 2 snow days and it is now in the upper 70’s. Weather is crazy around here but I am so thankful for these warm, sunny days and cannot wait for spring to be here! I love the time change as we were able to play outside for an hour after dinner last night. Olive enjoyed some fresh air and Lola played chase, falling a ton (shes a tiny bit clumsy). She even stood up one time with a mouth full of dirt, spit it out, and kept running. Wish I got a picture of that one. Hope yall have a good rest of your week :)

P.S. – This post is dedicated to my #1 blog fan, Aunt Marian :)

Home with the girls

I am going on day 6 of being home with Lola and Olive. We were out at the end of last week for snow days. And unfortunately now Im home because Lola has been running a high fever for 3 days. I will say this morning it finally looks like the fever might of broke. So, sad to be going back to work, but very glad she’s feeling better.

Either way we have had LOTS of play and snuggle time. Alan and Lola made it out during the snow to make a snow man, which is one of her favorite things to do! Olive and I watched through the window. And then just a day or two later the sun came out and we were able to take a walk. Other than that we have been cooking and baking lots to help pass the time. Lola’s a great helper/mess creator. And Olive just enjoys doing anything with anyone- especially Lola!

Hope y’all are having a good week so far.

Snow day…I mean week

Being a teacher certainly has its perks…snow days being one of them! I was home with the girls for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. And I would of been home the rest of the week but darn it they made teachers return to work while the students stayed home. Unfortunately the temperature around here has been well below freezing which meant we only played outside for a short bit. Lola enjoyed sledding…but making snow angels and running around like a crazy girl in the snow seemed to be her favorite. Olive was not quite sure what was going on, but she sure was cute in her bear suit.

Unfortunately Alan was sick most of the week, but it did mean he got to work from the house. Lola made sure to give him many check-ups each day with her doctor kit.

So now the snow is starting to melt, Alan is all better, and we are headed back to work tomorrow, on a normal schedule. Looking forward to some more flurries in the forecast this week :)

29 and holding..

I am extremely behind on blogging but am really going to try and get back to it! About a week and a half ago I celebrated my 29th birthday. It was a wonderfully simple day filled with lots of hugs from my students and dinner with my favorite people in the world, my family. My mom made a delicious chocolate cake topped with vanilla buttercream and chocolate ganache, and also a tray full of confetti cake cupcakes (always loved them growing up)…yum! Lola was eager to help eat it all. It was a great day and I cannot believe 30 is approaching so quickly…time is seriously flying by.

A very Merry Christmas

Screen Shot 2013-12-29 at 4.39.42 PMI hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I cannot believe how quickly it has passed by this year. I am still playing my Christmas music and enjoying the decorations…for a couple more days at least.

Olive is still too young to know what is going on. However, this was the first year Lola really understood everything and watching her was the best thing in the world. It truly makes you feel like a kid again, and also puts alot into perspective of what my parents did for us on Christmas. She was so excited when she woke up to find Santa had left her gifts, eaten her cookies, and the reindeer had eaten all the carrots. Her sweet little face lit up with excitement. Olive played nearby with one of her new teethers!

Such a wonderful time of year.
