Hallelujah! I’m so thankful Spring has “arrived.” I will say, today just so happens to be beautiful and sunny. However, there is more snow in the forecast. So lets enjoy this while we can. We don’t have any big plans for this weekend other than the usuals…but I am thankful for that and can’t wait to spend some quality time with our family. Hope yall have a great weekend. 🙂
Hope you all are having a good start to your week. I have been a bit slack on posting lately and am going to work to do better! Because our phones are what we always have with us my picture taking has resorting to always using my iPhone. If it was only as simple to carry around the large Canon camera in my back pocket….things would look alot prettier!
Last week we had 2 snow days and it is now in the upper 70’s. Weather is crazy around here but I am so thankful for these warm, sunny days and cannot wait for spring to be here! I love the time change as we were able to play outside for an hour after dinner last night. Olive enjoyed some fresh air and Lola played chase, falling a ton (shes a tiny bit clumsy). She even stood up one time with a mouth full of dirt, spit it out, and kept running. Wish I got a picture of that one. Hope yall have a good rest of your week 🙂
P.S. – This post is dedicated to my #1 blog fan, Aunt Marian 🙂
We are sending you Valentine’s wishes and hope you have a wonderful day filled with lots of love.
Thumbody loves you!
Sprinkles courtesy of Lola!
Mmm…heart sugar cookies.
My favorite weekends are the ones where we start out with no plans at all. This weekend had absolutely perfect fall weather.
Friday night we went to the local high school football game (our neighbor plays) and Lola loves him! So she had a ball watching him, the cheerleaders, and the band play! Saturday, one of our favorite spots to get a treat, Sweetly Smitten, celebrated their one year anniversary with a fun Fall event for customers and kids. We enjoyed lots of gelato and cupcakes! Sunday we played outside and worked on decorating some pumpkins. Lola got sticker happy and Olive laid on the blanket just smiling non-stop. She has become such a smily, giggly little baby!
I also made this Chili recipe yesterday! Its a delicious one if you are looking 🙂 And just had to throw in a few pictures of Lola helping me grocery shop because they’re just so darn cute.
I received another precious gift recently, from my good friend Shawn, and I just had to share this one. Im sure by now you have seen a million nurseries or kids bedrooms with big, blocky letters that spell their name, right? While they can be cute, they are just not my cup of tea. Shawn and I have the same taste in just about everything, so when she presented me with these letters I could not have been more excited. They are so beautiful and sweet and exactly what Olive’s room needed.
Each letter is on a different piece of fabric. All with lovely colors and different patterns that work wonderfully together. They would also be cute for a party banner or maybe in another special place in your home.
In case you would like these for yourself, Shawn picked them up in Roanoke, VA at RSVP or you can visit Meri Meri to order them directly. Happy Shopping!
These cool evenings are lending a great opportunity to eat lots of s’mores. Lola is also totally on board with this little treat and asks for more s’mores please!
Do you know someone who just had a baby, getting married perhaps, or just want a little treasure for your home? You must visit Paloma’s Nest. My best friend, Lauren, recently sent us a sweet plate with Olive’s name engraved on it. When Lola was born she sent us the same dish. This is perhaps one of my absolute favorite things in Lola and Olive’s room. They are not just gifts…they are keepsakes.
They look beautiful simply laying on a table, hanging on the wall, sitting in a stand, etc. Some of my other favorites are there Keepsake Ornaments and the Family Plaque. There is a little something for everyone. We will treasure these always. Thank you Lauren.
Are you a stay at home mom, teacher, or work from home? What do you do with your children to pass the time during these hot summer days?
Lola and I have fun being together every day, but days definitely get monotonous. Most days we are at the pool. That is the only way we really get to spend any time outside because of this awful heat and humidity. Lola LOVES the pool so I don’t think she minds going several times a week, thank goodness!
Other than that we play kitchen, color, take care of baby dolls, run around the house, hide and seek, make forts, snuggle….the list goes on. What fun things or ideas do you have to do with your toddlers over the summer?
My sweet girlfriends threw me a quaint little baby shower last weekend. When asked what I wanted to do for a baby shower for my 2nd child I felt we didn’t need a big to do, but had something much smaller in mind. An afternoon catching up with my girls…talkin’ about babies, husbands, houses, decorating, gossip, etc…It could not have been more perfect.
Lauren thought of every detail from the invitations to the location, and the decorations. We went to Gather. Which if you live in the area you must visit, and bring your wallet. You will want to purchase just about everything in this wonderful little store. Lauren featured the store on her blog, you can see a little bit more here.
She decided on a book theme, which I love. I received some special books that we can share with our new little one when she arrives (Lola can spot a book from a mile away and already loves them too). Emily brought adorable (and delicious) cupcakes, made by a friend of ours, decorated in nursery rhymes. The food and drinks were amazing too! Again…all I can say is everything was perfect.
Love you girls. Thank you 🙂
Gotta love Kindergartners….
I had a student come up to me and say:
“Mrs. Lindsey, I know how you got pregnant.”
“Oh yeah, how’s that?”
“Well, you just go on a date and then you become pregnant.”
“Oh is that, right?”
Next, I had another Kindergartner draw me a lovely picture. They are usually of nice flower gardens, cars, sunshine’s, etc….but not this time. He said, “This is how you get the baby.”
